When selecting materials for K-factor transformers, it is generally
forbidden to use low-temperature wires with low-density insulation
such as silk-covered wires. Enameled copper wires or NOMAX copper
wires above 180°C should be used to prevent as much as possible the
internal collection of wires due to higher harmonics. The skin
effect produces local high temperature damage to the insulating
layer, which leads to breakdown of the insulating layer and damage
to the transformer. The K-factor transformer is designed to reduce
the thermal effect as much as possible, which can be achieved
through the optimization of the coil design, the thickness-to-width
ratio of the wire specification, and the number of parallel coils.
The design impedance of the K-factor transformer must select an
appropriate impedance value, use low-loss ultra-thin silicon steel
sheets, and the magnetic density should be lower than the design
value of ordinary transformers, process production to enhance the
structural strength, and reduce the thermal effect of the
transformer zero sequence current at the neutral point. , High
frequency heat addition effect and output side winding heat
addition effect, etc.
